About BCNET
BCNET is a not-for-profit organization that is collectively funded by British Columbia's universities and institutes as well as the provincial and federal governments.
BCNET manages the development of B.C.'s fibre optic network, known as the Optical Regional Advanced Network (ORAN), which links researchers, scientists and educators across the country and around the world. Today, the network boasts the largest capacity in its 20 year history. Up to 10,000 times faster than the commercial Internet, the network can transfer massive amounts of data at lightning-speed when fully harnessed. BCNET's highly charged broadband capacity is powering new possibilities for collaboration, research and education, enabling B.C. to become an international recognized leader in innovation.
